The Washington Flanders Club brings together a diverse group of people who have an interest in Flanders and Flemish culture. It is a "circle of friends" who get together to enjoy each other's company at a whole range of activities. It also aims at making Flanders better known to people who are not from the Flemish region. We therefore also welcome French and English speaking friends and we hope all interested enjoy being part of our organization. We are an affiliate of "Vlamingen in de Wereld," a Belgian organization representing Flemish people all over the world. We offer an exciting program such as a summer brunch, a champagne & dessert New Year celebration, nature walks, ice skating, a wine-tasting weekend, theatre, music and information evenings. The club also has a monthly get-together "Tussen Pot en Pint" at the Elephant & Castle, 1201 Pennsylvania Ave NW in Washington DC. Every first Friday of the month (except January, July and August) at 7:00 pm we meet to have a beer and to catch up on things. You'll be amazed how fast your Dutch improves when you're tasting a smooth Belgian beer! The club publishes a quarterly newsletter "WFC News - Viwke" with articles in Dutch and English. All this and more for an annual membership fee of $30 per person or $40 per family. If you would like to become a member please contact the WFC office or fill out a membership application form. |
